Welcome to the Learner Publication Area

Glasgow's Learning has been awarded a grant by Learning Connections to publish a collection of literacy learners' writing about ghost stories and 'the unexplained'  - and we want you to be part of it!

We are looking for learners from across the city to send their own ghostly stories, from famous and not-so-famous hauntings to personal ghostly experiences.

You can write in whatever format you like - stories, poems, songs, plays, raps, even comic strips.

Glagow's Learning has a bank of six digital cameras for loan to any projects wanting to use them for literacies-related activities. Why not borrow them to take pictures of places or objects with a ghostly connection - real or imagined! - then write about them for our supernatural learner publication?

We are planning a number of storytelling and themed events over the next few months to stimulate and inspire. The final publications will be launched at the Aye Write! Book Festival in March 2008.

If you have a story to tell, or want to find out more, contact Maria-Elena Heather on 0141 287 0953 or email maria-elena.heather@csglasgow.org. You can also get started today and post your spooky stories on the Learners' Forum and start sharing them with other learners from across the city.

Take a look at the Quick Reads website for information about a gripping ghost story called Lily. This short, modern tale is about a young woman longing for her lost baby. When she starts to see a child on every street corner, is it all in her mind - or not?

You can read a chapter of it by clicking on the blue ‘Read a sample chapter' on the web page. Let us know what you think of it!

If you enjoy it, why not have a go at a ghost story web quest

He went on to tell her about a legend in his family - whenever something terrible was going to affect the family, a ghostly hand would appear. The very next morning, they heard that the woman's brother had died...
