Garry Farquharson — 09 Jul 2007

My name is Garry Farquharson. I'm currently volunteering with a number of different organisations - Phoenix Futures, Queens Cross Housing Association, Aberlour Childcare Trust and East End Community Partnership. I love the variety involved in working for these diverse businesses and it's great to work with their equally diverse tutors - Donna McBride, Jack Savage, Ros Docherty and Raymond Ward respectively.

Working with adult learners (and sometimes their kids too!) is very rewarding and often very challenging. It's also a learning opportunity for me too since every learner is unique and has their own specific requirements which means that I continually need to develop appropriate skills, tools and strategies.

I hope that one day I will be able to get a full time tutoring job in adult literacy and numeracy. Until then I willl continue to gain experience and pick the brains of  my above -mentioned mentors!
